(AP) — The Dartmouth men's basketball team voted to unionize Tuesday in an unprecedented step toward forming the first labor union for college athletes and another attack on the NCAA's deteriorating amateur business model. "Today is a big day for our team," players Cade Haskins and Romeo Myrthil said in a statement. That could delay negotiations over a collective bargaining agreement until long after the current members of the basketball team have graduated. “In this isolated circumstance, however, the students on the men’s basketball team are not in any way employed by Dartmouth,” the school said. He went 9-14 in his debut, one of only two times over an entire season in which he would finish with a losing record as a college coach. "Eighteen of the 20 most successful AI companies in the world are American," FBI Director Christopher Wray told CNBC's Morgan Brennan during a CNBC CEO Council virtual roundtable on Tuesday. "Generative AI, in the world of cyberattacks, is what I would describe as taking kind of junior varsity athletes and making them varsity," Wray said. But while much of the discussion around AI in the cybersecurity space has centered on how AI is enhancing both attackers and defenders, Wray said the FBI is also focused on "defending American AI [research and development], American innovation in AI."

CNN —The Republican presidential debates have so far produced two big winners – one who will be center stage Wednesday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the fourth GOP matchup, and another who won’t be there at all. The good news for Haley is that she is now running neck-and-neck for second place with the formerly formidable Florida Gov. In skipping the debates, Trump wagered that without his oversized presence, his opponents would primarily train their fire on each other. With Trump absent, Haley, who thus far has mostly eluded frontal attacks, is more likely to get frontrunner treatment from her rivals on Wednesday night. Bain has been interviewing investment banks to hire financial advisers that will help the private equity firm come up with a plan to cash out on its majority stake in Varsity Brands, the sources said. Varsity Brands generates more than $400 million in 12-month earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, the sources added, asking not to be identified because the matter is confidential. Tevainui Loft, a 17-year-old tight end and linebacker, grew up watching Lahainaluna football in the stands overlooking his hometown. After the fire, “football was the furthest thing from my mind,” said Garret Tihada, one of the coaches, a 1987 Lahainaluna graduate. Tihada started to talking to players, fellow coaches and community members: “They were saying, ‘We need football back.
